Finder: Search in Current Folder does not work

I have one folder in my finder where "search in the current folder" returns 0 results even if i search for the names of files in that folder.

I tried adding this to the Spotlight and than removing it so that its reindexed and I tried deleting invisible finder (and other) files but thats didn't worked.

I have ca 300 PDF files in that folder. I tried creating new folder somewhere else and adding these PDF there and again search is not working.

Anyone knows how to solve this?

Greetings eklisiarh,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I see that there is one folder with about 300 PDF files that you are not able to search via the search option. I know searching allows me to find just the right file. I will be more than happy to help.

You have done a great job so far with reindexing that folder. First, lets boot to safe mode. This will clear cache files and perform some system checks. Once in safe mode see if you can search inside that folder. Here is the article for how to boot to safe mode. You can ignore the part where it says “if your Mac doesn’t finish starting up”

Restarting will exit safe mode. If that doesn’t work, try testing this issue in a new user and copying the folder over to that new user to see if this is a system wide issue.

Report back and let us know how things go.

Take care!
